I’m a sucker for a beautiful embroidered dress! Maybe it’s because I grew up around my grandma always making clothes, or something that was embroidered beautifully. It has a soft spot in my heart. I wanted to show you guys some of my favorites that I have purchased and those that I still have in my cart. I love how you can have fun with how you style these. I added a hat and went with a pair of heels. You can add a belt, wear flats, even go total boho and do your hair in braids.
I found this white dress online last week and had to purchase. It’s currently 50% off with their code from the website (it changes so when you click just look for the new code that appears)
Also linked some of my favorite plus size embroidered options as well:
Have fun getting dressed everyday! Wether it’s sweat pants or a dress, embrace your style and what you love. Being able to express myself different everyday is amazing.
I went back to Cali, Cali… It was my first time back in around 7 years. I honestly am such an East Coast girl. I live for NYC. I think you’re either ONE or the OTHER – anyone else think that? I was in the LA area for a total of 5 days and I had a great time attending the Girl Boss Rally, I stayed at the Sofitel in Beverly Hills and also got to see my friend Nina who I met while living in Miami!
Let”s dive into my trip! – I landed and got to the hotel around 7pm and was exhausted from traveling from NYC directly to LA. I order room service that night and passed out right after. I woke up around 6:30 am with a view of the Hollywood Hills and ordered room service for breakfast before I headed off to the Girls Boss Rally!
The breakfast was literally gone in less than 5 mins, It was beyond delicious and the hash browns and eggs were perfectly cooked. I’m actually craving this while typing.
I headed to the girl boss rally which was what I flew out for! I’ve been a huge fan of Sophia Amoruso for years. Not only is she my role model, she was the reason I was so inspired to quit my job and follow my dreams. If you haven’t picked up her “Girl Boss” book, you need to. I’ve read it twice and I will probably read it again every few months. It’s a great refresher on things you might already know but kinda put on the shelf.
The Rally was filled with so many inspiring women from business owners and entrepreneurs – huge walls filled with quotes that just excited you while walking by. I had to stop and take a photo in front of this one — START YOUR OWN SHIT. I am proud to say, I started my own. Listening to these incredible women and their stories made me cry, laugh, and feel so inspired. To be honest — it was the best trip I’ve ever taken, the best convention I’ve ever been to. They have them yearly in NYC and LA. I will 100% be attending the next NY one — I’m poaching the website already haha.
I was so nervous to introduce myself, but honestly one of my good friends told me earlier in that week that I basically need to cut the shit and do it. Never be shy or intimidated by anyone. I was so glad I spoke with her for a few minutes and got a photo. I walked away feeling so glad I was able to share with her how much of an impact she’s had in my life. I might of cried when I walked away as well, haha. BUT happy tears — for anyone reading this and wondering if they should follow their dreams or do something they are shy to do….DO IT.
After the GIRL BOSS RALLY I jumped in a Lyft and headed over to see Nina! Nina was one of my best friends in Miami and GOD only know how much I miss her. I left Miami and moved to Northern Virginia and she moved from Miami to LA. She’s a full time makeup artist and she’s KILLING it, here is here Instagram account: @NinasMakeup
We did a makeup youtube video together, headed to lunch and played catch up! It was amazing to see her again! Nina – I love you girl!
I also had the chance to stop by Rodeo Drive, meet my fellow blogger friend Missy (known as @missyonmadison) which I was super excited to finally meet her in person!
We did a little bit of a photoshoot, we had a late lunch at 208 Rodeo Resturant and enjoyed the view. If you are local to that area I highly recommend the surf and turf! We both ate it so fast…DELICIOUS!! I would die to have this right now.
I had a lot of early nights in LA. Can’t lie, theres nothing better than relaxing in bed early while you’re on a vacation. At least at this point in my life I’m totally ok with it. So that being said I went home and crashed after this. haha.
The next few days was filled with a few meetings and photoshoots. I really didn’t do that much while in LA because I wanted and needed to relax. I spent more time with Nina and met a few other blogger friends whom I’ve adored for years but never got to meet. I met up with Cassydy and Candice!
Missy and I ended up meeting again for dinner together at Cattle & Claw — it’s located inside my hotel; Sofitel. We were on a lobster roll trend so we stuck with it! haha. Their drinks, atmosphere and food was incredible. (Open on in D.C. please!)
Overall, I loved my trip. I’m still an East Coast Girl but it was a whole different feel than I get when I go to NYC. I enjoyed my stay at Sofitel (the beds are so comfortable, also the bathroom is spacious which is a must!) I had a blast seeing my new and old friends and I ate some killer food. I hope they next time you’re in LA or looking for a new place to eat or stay you reference this post!
Now that summer is just around the corner and its beach and pool season, you’re going to want a STRONGER sunscreen to bring in your beach bag when you’re out in the sun! (Don’t forget to wear some SPF even in the off seasons it’s important!) Getting tan is my favorite part about summer, but don’t sacrifice your skin health for that summer glow! (I also highly recommend Spray tans or self tanners — which will be coming later this week on another post)
Supergoop is my absolute favorite. I’ve been using this one for 3 years and usually purchase it at Sephora. I love it because it’s not oily, there are no fragrances, and its water and sweat resistant! But make sure to reapply often if you’re going in the water.
Another Kiehl’s product I love is the glow formula skin hydrator. There’s no spf in this one, so use an spf and then put this glow on over top. This gives your skin a shimmery look, perfect for that summer glow. It’s great for being out and about if you’re going back and forth from the beach or pool and has that natural looking no makeup look.
Peter Thomas Roth is another one of my favorites. This one is perfect for travelling, and i always keep one of these in my car or suitcase. It’s spf 30 and the best part is that it’s not oily. I have naturally oily skin so its perfect for me!
Coppertone clearly sheer whipped sunscreen 50
I love coppertone, and if you’re looking for an affordable yet quality sunscreen, this one’s for you. It’s Not greasy and the consistency is like a thick mousse. It comes out white but blends into your skin tone and absorbs really fast. The best part is that it not only protects your skin from the sun, but leaves it feeling soft and smooth! You can find this one at any local drug store, so it’s easy to find if you can’t pack it with you while you’re traveling.
I went through my FAVORITE makeup palettes I have and currently love and wanted to share which ones I believe are a MUST have. You know, the ones with face, eye and maybe even lip included. I’ve linked different ones from Sephora and Ulta, depending on where you shop. If you’re looking for a palette and would like a link that isn’t below, let me know!
I love finding a palette that has everything you need. Some have the basics and some have everything you’d need for a complete glam look. I personally love the ones that have the basics and are easy to travel with, whether that means small in size, has everything I need and or comes with a mirror.
This is one of the new palettes from Laura Gellar Beauty and it’s PERFECT for that Summer glow. It’s called the Southampton Classic –
Eyeshadows in Sand Dollar (pale cream), Sea Glass (shimmering aqua), Dune Road (medium brown) & Driftwood (shimmering deep brown)
Blush in Coral Reef (pinky coral)
Bronzer in Vitamin Sea (medium bronzer)
It’s currently on sale for only $19, marked down from $32. You can purchase HERE.
I’ve linked some of my other favorites below:
Any of these would be perfect to add into your routine – every one of these I personally own and love. I have linked them all above for you. If you’re looking for a certain product or have any questions feel free to leave them below!
As you may know, I recently hired a personal assistant! Caroline is a recent graduate from James Madison University and has a fresh perspective on entering the working world. Check out her recommendations on work attire that’s not only affordable, but cute too!
Hi! I’m Caroline and Tonya’s personal assistant. Recently, I did a major closet haul, ditching my party clothes from the past four years and swapping them for work clothes since I’m an adult and all now. I went on a mission to find cute clothes that are office appropriate yet affordable on a recent-grad budget and these were my finds!
Ann Taylor Loft
Inspired by my Mom’s business casual outfits, I decided to stop at Ann Taylor Loft first. Loft is known for their work attire that fits every body type. You can’t go wrong with work pants, and Loft has some great capri-length work pants that are perfect for hot summer temps but comfy for cold office environments! I got this pair in black and khaki.
I also got another work-wardrobe staple that every working girl should have, a jean jacket! I love a good jean jacket, and wanted one to wear exclusively to work and this one is perfect. I bring it along with me since the office can get pretty chilly.
Express is by far my favorite store. Their clothes are quality, they always have a sale, and they have a great student discount if you’re still in college! (or still use your student ID for discounts like me). I got another pair of work pants, but these are ones that are high-waisted and tie into a cute little bow! I got these in black, but I love this striped pair! This is great for going to work and hitting a happy hour later!
Some of the other tops I got from Express were also inspired by the work-to-play idea I had in mind, such as this super cute piped Hudson tank that comes in a lot of different colors! I got this one in ivory.
My next spot was Forever 21. I love this store because you can get away with not spending too much money but walk away with more than one piece of clothing. My office environment is pretty casual, so I try to opt for a t-shirt dress like this one and pair it with some cute sandals. This dress also goes perfectly with the jean jacket I bought from LOFT!
Last but not least, I headed to Nordstrom Rack to wrap-up my shopping. If you’re more of a high-end brand kind of girl, this one’s for you. I needed another work shoe and maybe another top, so I headed here.
I found this textured ruffled blouse in olive green and fell in love. It’s so cute and very work appropriate. It looked so cute with the khaki capri dress pants I got from LOFT!
Lastly, I wanted a work sandal that I could also use for other occasions like a summer party. I found these thong sandals from Franco Sarto in black that I love. They’re so comfy and sleek and I can dress them up or down.
Some other favorites from Nordstrom Rack that are affordable:
Tonya also told me about some great online boutiques that are perfect for finding some other items that you could wear to work! Vici Dolls – she has a discount code that is: TONYA20, for 20% off anything on their site. The photo below is a great jumpsuit you can add a cardigan or blazer with!

Let me honest with you guys, I’m not the best with eating salads and you know why? They truly aren’t my favorite thing to eat. So when you need to start eating more greens, what do you do? You figure it out! I played around with different toppings and veggies to add to my salads recently and I think I’m now addicted. No joke, bring on the salads!
Below I’m sharing what I now love to put on mine and some other great ideas that might help you also find your love for salads as well.
My usual dressing for my salads are either a classic Oil & Vinegar, Zoës Kitchens famous dressing or Italian! Today I used Newman’s Own Salad Dressing, Oil & Vinegar! You can find it at your local grocery store or I linked it HERE from Amazon!
I like adding some sort of “crunch” to my salads — I’m a huge tortilla and chip eater so this helps me not feel like I’m just eating plain veggies on a salad! I added three different things to this salad and to my surprise…it tasted BOMB.COM
I used the following:
Fresh Gourmet Cheese Crisps in Asiago.
Fresh Gourmet Won Ton Strips in Garlic Ginger.
Fresh Gourmet Crispy Onions.
Also let’s not forget the bacon bits! Don’t eat meat? That’s fine, skip them!
I added some green peppers and scallions as well. I love buying the pre-chopped up veggies at the store cause they simply save me time, to me that’s a win!
Also, talking about saving time…I recently discovered the pre-washed lettuce and I’m hooked. I’m the type of person that needs stuff done quickly and easy. Being a busy bee…I don’t like wasting time on prepping my meals, unless it’s dinner! Organic Girl has many different types of salads you can purchase and I believe to me, they taste A LOT better than anything else I’ve eaten. No joke!
I’m also the person who loves to eat my salads in the biggest bowl we own, sometimes it can be a little funny looking but I like to MIX up everything really well so each bite has a little bit of everything ya know?
I’m able to make this salad in less than 5 minutes, eat in 10-15 and then get back to work. Personally it’s shown me how I can take something I didn’t like before and turn it into one of my favorite meals of the day now.
I hope you try something new on you salad this week! Do you have something you MUST have on every salad? Mine would be onions…doesn’t help my breathe but they are SO delicious!
ps, Walmart has some really cute plastic Summer bowls. The one above has cactus on it! Came in a set of 3, super fun!!
What’s better than not having to think if your top matches with your jeans or shorts? Nothing! haha. I adore wearing Jumpers and Rompers in the Spring/Summer. This Jumper is SO comfortable and easy to dress up with your favorite heels or throw on a denim jacket and chucks. Being able to do both with an outfit is so important to me. I love wearing things different ways depending on how I feel that day or where I’m headed!
Below I’ve linked this Jumper & some others that I adore:
Some must have Rompers:
*I usually do size Medium in Rompers cause of my height, I’m 5’7″
